Obituary of Lavern E Ponder

A faithful and devoted mother, wife, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend fell a sleep on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 Wilmington Hospital surround by her family. Lavern was born on August 30, 1952 to Roxie Pinkett Evans and Robert Perry in Salisbury, Maryland. Mrs. Ponder was raised and nurtured in New Castle County by her mother, Roxie Evans and a loving and caring "dad", Raleigh Evans. She graduated from Del A Warr High School and later attended the OIC program. After completing, OIC, Mrs. Ponder was employed by the State of Delaware, Family Court for over 22 years. Mrs. Ponder was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church. She is survived by her husband, Percy Ponder Sr., her sons, Maurice Evans and Percy (Coolie) Ponder Jr., her parents, Roxie Evans and Robert Perry, grandchildren, Reeneshia, Ta'quiera, and Maur'queche Evans, Tasier Tillman, Kiara, Zechariah and Tristan Ponder, Serinity Todd, siblings, Raleigh and Wallace Evans, Katina Handy and her Maryland siblings; mother-in- law, Elizabeth D Ponder; her other mother, Mary Preston and a host of other family and friends.
