Quinetta Penn

Obituary of Quinetta Penn

Went to be with the Lord on March 19, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Quinetta was the oldest daughter of Lillian and The late Deacon Joseph Beard. She was employed by the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families as a Head Start Program Specialist. She retired on Feb. 28, 2014. She was previously employed by the State of Delaware where she completed 20 years of faithful service. Quinetta was one of the original staff for The House of Wright Mortuary from 1987-1991. Quinetta's love for music made her well known in her community, where you would often find her singing or directing local choirs. She had a passion for people and would make you feel special from the moment she met you. Quinetta's tremendous faith was evident in her journey with pancreatic cancer, and she never gave up. At the time of her death, she was completing her dissertation to obtain her doctorate degree in Biblical Studies from United Christian College. Forever cherishing Quinetta's memories are her husband Robert E. Penn, children Patrice Moore, Andrea Moore, Jermaine Moore, step-daughter Patricia Penn and her nephew Daryl Moore, whom she raised. She is the proud grandmother of 6. Her devoted mother Lillian Beard, 4 brothers, Jeffery Beard, Steven Beard, Gregory Beard, Michael Beard, 2 sisters Jo-Ann Beard and Shelley (Beard) Nix. She was also the proud aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews that she adored. She also leaves a host of family, friends and former co-workers who will miss her dearly.
