Obituary of Elwood S. Roy

Age 81 of Newark, DE died Friday, January 23, 2004 A former WWII vet and retired empolyee of the Postal Service and the Newark Senior Center. Puddy was active in many civic groups. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the NAACP. he received numerous awards, most recently the Lifetime Achievement Award from the NAACP and a "Diploma" for American Vets of WWII from the Consulat General De France for appreciation of his role in liberating France. He is survived by his soul mate, wife of 57 years Madeline; daughters, Beverly McCollister and husband Ken, Victoria Hubbard, Marilyn Jackson and husband, Jack; sons James Roy and wife Dale and Douglas Roy; granddaughters Tanlynne Word, Tamika Hubbard, Lakeshia Roy, Tairen and Tlyona McCollister; great granddaughter, Taylin Minor; and sister, Sadie Roy.
