Keith was born September 5, 1943 in Seaford, DE, the sixth of eight children of the late Martha Vincent and Granville Nathan Dorman. Keith completed the first nine years of his education at Frederick Douglass Junior High School. W.C. Jason High School in Georgetown, DE, provided his secondary education. He then attended Delaware State University where he received his BS in Biology, Antioch College where he earned his Master’s in Education and completed his postgraduate studies at Glassboro State College. As an educator, he taught Biology at PS DuPont High School, was a vice principal at Wilmington High School, and principal at Bayard Elementary School, all in Wilmington, DE. He loved entertaining and cooking in the company of friends and family, and could often be found reveling in the excitement at Delaware Park Race Track.
