My heartfelt condolences to Tyler (Lil Ty), Tywan and Tyonna, my precious grandchildren. I will always remember Ty’s infectious laughter and good humor. He could put words together like no one else to make you smile. I will miss him calling me “mommy” and telling me that he loved me and there is nothing I could do about it. I would have never dreamed that we would be at this place now saying goodbye. He will always been in our hearts as he was the son that Roger and I never had, because we had three beautiful girls. I sit here even today knowing T.Y.’s service is today but still in awe that such a wonderful and kindred soul has departed this earthly world. When I think about TY, it brings back so many fond memories of “GOOD” Times and most of all Happy Times. For he was just that, a man full of Sensitivity, LOVE, Happiness and Fun. He was an ambassador of Community! He cared about others often assisting others with whatever they needed. He was one that would give you the shirt off his back. I remember talking with him about one of his many services to the community and that was giving haircuts to whomever needed one. He would tell me that was his duty – his contribution to the community. See, he was a “community” person and he believed in dignity, equality and respect for all people, especially his African American heritage. I could go on and on talking about TY – who could not if you knew him. See he could talk with you for hours always providing such a warm and fuzzy welcoming smile.
To Peggy and the family, stay strong, remain in faith, cry out if needed, WE all know that GOD has called “HIS Own” home. He is needed in a far greater capacity then you and I could ever fathom. Let us hold dearly the heartfelt memories and remembrances that he so graciously graced our lives with. Many of us are greater people for what he did and how hard he tried to get us to do for our community. This old familiar song is so fitting for him: “May the work I’ve done speak for me” – May the people I’ve touched .. May the life I lived … May the Service I’ve given - Speak for me”. Thank you for sharing his life with us. May GOD bless you and the family and keep you in his almighty grace. Ms. Peggy, we go back a mighty long way, so if you need anything, please call on me.

My condolences to the family. Tyler-Ty will truly be missed, I can honestly say he was a very good friend of mine. During are years of middle and high school. Remembering our high school class trip a incident happen where he saved my life (literally). That was who he was, always at the right place at the right time. He was a Big Brother to me. I am so honored that I was able to spend time with him on the Howard High School class of 1975 Reunion committee. Before he took his Wings of flight. Ty was a honorable man, and one of the many few that will be thought of by many of us in our day to day lives because of who he was and how he touch our lives in specail ways. To the Brooks family, Ty wasn’t perfect, but believe me Ty will truly be missed, he is one that left us before his time and now is sleeping in the Lord.

I am in shock with lost of words to see him on House of Wright. I know him from Fedex office, downtown Wilmington. He was a good man. I would always tease him. He was always respectful , polite and always had patience. He did a lot for the community. He always kept a smile on his face. He's spirit nevered changed.if he was upset, you will never know.
