I truly miss you. We shared so much. You came into my family while you were in the 1st grade growing up as best friends with my cousins Freddie and Daryl. I never thought we'd fall in love one day. Now your with God and finally out of pain and at peace. I recently got enough heart to date again and I have my soul mate. I know you had something to do with that happening. Hey Daddy, just wanted to let you know that I went to Bethal yesterday... Pastor Beamen preached a "GREAT WORD".. He said. " I want something NEW and BETTER".He told me he will be my father now.... Lol, I thought that was nice of him... But NO ONE can take you place... Wednesday it will be a year that you left us and went to heaven.. I was angry and up-set for a minute but I know u had alot on your plate and was sick and also in alot of pain. I know your in heaven enjoying spending time with Mommom & Poppop. But,I REALIZE THAT ALOT OF FEMALE CANT SAY THEY HAVE A FATHER IN THEIR LIFE LIKE I DID... Morning Beloved, today is not a good day for me, birthday or not. My birthdays will never be the same again, cause two days after that you were called home. Happy Birthday Melvin, I am still going forward with my plans to celebrate your 50th in grand style. I know that you will be watching us from a far but your presence will be felt. I miss you with every ounce of my being, but it gives me great comfort to know that I still have a piece of you with me, Malcolm is my calm. I know that you are proud of the young man that he has become. These last six months have been the worst without you. When I hear certain songs I think of you, when I cook your favorite meal, I think of you. I still sleep with the tee shirt that you wore your last night here on earth and it still has your scent, sandelwood. While I did not personally know him, it is quite clear that Mr. Hoil was a very special man! My Friend Melvin,
I still can't believe you're gone. I'm more shocked than anything else. Even seeing your obituary now is surreal to me. I just spoke with you a few months ago and as usual we laughed and promised to stay in touch. The memories are what give me comfort. I think about when we met during the summer of '83 and how much fun we had. Although we went our separate ways we've always remained friends. I'm going to miss you but I'll always keep you in my heart.

To the Hoil family and close friends, I can't believe my friend is gone, but what cheers my heart is where he went to. We all could spend our entire lives wondering why some of the best people in our lives leave, but I found a logical, profound and true answer that came directly from where Melvin went to, and the voice said "My thoughts are not your thoughts. Your ways are not like my ways. Just as heaven are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts"(Isaish 55:8-9)
We are thinking, Preserve the body; he's thinking, Save the soul. We dream of a pay raise. He dreams of raising the dead. We avoid pain and seek peace. God uses pain to bring peace. We think of living before we die, and He says "Die so you can live." To the family Melvin is not dead, he just began to live. Be encourage family and see him smiling in his newness. God Bless you.
