A Quiet Man With A Secret Place
You were always a quiet man, never raising your voice more than to be heard, never using more words needed to say what you wanted to convey. You had a peaceful spirit, the world was all around you, but you were not of this world. You always seemed to know a secret place, that I just wondered about.
You could have been so different with your tall, dark, handsome self, but you knew it was NEVER about you. The peace you carried came from deep within, and no matter what was going on around you, it was never allowed to penetrate that secret place.
You gave so much, I hope we were all paying attention. You did it with very few words, you quietly just used your life to speak for you. You said, "don't get caught up in the packaging, looks don't make a person. Even though you may be taller, never look down on people, meet them where they are. Be humble and kind - God is watching how you treat others, care about their feelings too. Don't worry about material things, take in life's beauty and God's creation - notice the little precious things. Don't be so busy with life, that you never really are getting anything done - not even taking time to pray".
When you guard your spirit and you did, you didn't let wagging tongues, mean spirits, pride, selfishness or revenge enter in. You decided long ago to just LOVE EVERYBODY like God said to love.
I watched you on Friday at the birthday celebration, as I sat next to you, looking at all your family for the last time. I started to say something, but you were sitting there so very peaceful and quiet, I just stared at you for a long time.
I wonder now, if such a quiet man with a secret place was quietly praying that your secret would be imparted to those left behind... Love above all else. Do unto others as you want done to you. Choose your words with kindness and enjoy life without strife and bitterness.
Take time to listen to God speaking. It's No Secret, He still does....
"But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to the Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. NKJV Matthew 6:6.
God Bless our Family.
From my heart, I thank you for everything.
Lovingly submitted,
Diana Lee Mitchell

Dan,
I did my best to keep up with you to see if I could help you in your daily concerns. I will miss our chats and years spent as we grew up. When we reached our 83rd year in life, we said "we made it." Now, Dan, you have surpassed me in making it into the kingdom, to that I give praise. See you later, Buddy.
Love,
Elmira

Daddy,
We will miss you so much but we are happy that God gave us long years with you, and for that To God Be The Glory. You taught us patience and what it means to have a quite sweet spirit. We will try to emulate your characteristics with the help of the Lord. Love you, Daddy, but we submit to God's humble will.

I will miss you meeting me at the car to pick up your clothes or food. I remember when we would ask you a question, you would always respond that "you didn't know", but then you would immediately come up with the correct answer. Those were the days of joyfulness that we had with you.
In Loving Memory
Your Daughter,
Betty
