Obituary of Bertha Davis

Bertha Davis of Wilmington, Delaware, age 89, was born on September 15, 1915 in Stewart County, Georgia to the late Mattie Wright and Jack Phillip. She departed this life peacefully at home. In her early years she served as an educator in the south. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Maurice Davis and from this ten children were born. Bertha loved Gospel Music. Her great-grandchildren recall many days of watching "Gramps", as she was affectionately known, listening to southern hyms and traditional spirtuals. Prior to her illness, she was a faithful member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Davis and daughter, Leslie Davis. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Frank Davis, Fed Davis and Bruce Davis; her daughters, Mattie Davis, Sarah Rembert, Eunice Johnson, Daisy Johnson and Doushie Williams.
