Obituary of James Edward Fields

James Edwards Fields was on February 22, 1922 in Middletown Delaware to the late Edward and Annabelle(White) Fields. His sudden call to glory came on Thursday, May 5, 2005 at his residence in Bowie, Maryland surrounded by his loving family. James was employed by the Middletown School District leaving to join the Pennsylvania Railroad where he was the chief cook for nearly 40 years. Upon his retirement he met and married Helen Janet Ross of Bowie, MD. He was a lifetime member of Dales United Methodist Church unitl his health prevented him from attending. His favorite pastime was chatting with the boys in front of his home or walking to the corner of Lake and Catherine Street with his pants rolled above his shoes or boots. In addition to his first wife Frances (Garnett) Fields, he is predeceased by his only daughter Carloyn V. Saunders, son Edward(Nina) Fields and two grandchildren, Crystal Saunders and James Fields; two brothers, Jospeh and George Fields and sister Edna Young. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Helen Janet Fields; four sons, Rev. James, Van, Sherman, and Marvin Fields; four daughter-laws, Nolie, Marjorie, Lorene and Lisha Fields; seven stepsons and one stepdaughter; sister Lillian Jordan; three sister-in-laws, Doris Fields, Joyce Thompson and Joan Marshall; thre brother-in-laws Nelson and Thomas Ross and Lester Matthews; 23 grandchildren, 32 step grandchilden; 25 great grandchildren and 28 step great grand children; also a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
