Obituary of Willie Thomas

Willie Thomas, Jr., age 79 enlisted in the U.S. Navy, November 1942. He served as a Steward's Mate in Hawaii and Guam. While in the U.S. Navy, Willie received the American Theatre Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, and the Victory Medal. Willie was discharged from the Navy December 1945. Willie joined Moss-Robertson V.F.W. Post No.6687 in 1960. He served as the Commander 1987-1990, Senior Vice Commander, Three Years Trustee and the Adjutant for a long period of time until his health forced him to resign. Willie could be seen numerous times working about the Post, doing what needed to be done. Willie and his wife Vivian Covery Thomas have been Foster Parents for more than 28 years, caring for more than a hundred children. They are members of the Family and Children Service's Foster Parents.
