I was too thru when I opened the paper and saw JoAnn's obit. I met Joann at Dupont when she was working thru a temp. I did her a huge favor on her word and we became friends from there. I've talked to her over the years and used to sit with her at 5th and Monroe watching the sights and laughing. Now Heaven has a beautiful Angel to add to its choir. She was beautiful inside and out. RIP my dear friend we will meet again and I will have even more crazy stories to tell you. Love and miss you girl. Celestine Satterfield

My heartfelt condolences to the family. I have been knowing Joanne since childhood. She, along with her sisters and parents and her sons were neighbors on LaMotte Street. I will never forget Joanne teaching me how to pop gum and make tomatoe sandwiches (lol). I am so sorry I will not be able to attend her service, but I will always have the good memories we all shared on LaMotte Street. LaMotte Street has not been the same since the Pettiford Family left. I would like to send my love and heartfelt sympathy, to Keith, Tracy, Dougie, Ms Syburnia, and the entire family of Ms. Joanne. I've been knowing her since i was like 7 years old so I feel like she's family to me as well. The last time I called her she told me to call her back in 10 minutes and I never did. I will always regret that i didn't. I am grateful for the time we did spend talking on the phone though because I would tell her I loved her and she would say the same. She's always been a sweetheart to me and I will miss her. I take comfort in knowing she's no longer in pain and she's resting in the arms of our heavenly father. I love y:all and i'm here if you need me. R.I.P Ms. Joanne. i will always love you

Stephanie & Sharon, I am saddened to hear about the passing of your sister Joanne. I knew Joanne, she use to come by agency every month to pay her rent and she would sit and we would talk about everything. She was a very pleasant woman and she will be missed.
