Obituary of Janice Margaret Sweat

Janice Margaret Lawrence Sweat, 76, died on May 18, 2014, peacefully in her sleep. She was born on February 27, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA to Alfonso and Margaret Hall. Janice was the 5th child of 6 children. Her brothers Alfonso (Al), Leon, and Charles (Father Chuck) predeceased her. She grew up in the West Philadelphia area until she married in 1959. Two children were born of this union; Philip and Tracey. Janice was educated in the Philadelphia School District. She trained at Philadelphia Opportunities Industrialization Center (OIC) and worked for the West Philadelphia Community Mental Health Consortium as an Intake Coordinator for 25+ years. On July 9, 1988, Janice found and married her soul mate, Louis Sweat. In 1999 Janice and Louis adopted their son, Jason. They moved from Philadelphia to Atco, NJ and lived there for 8 years until they moved to Middletown, DE, where she lived until she was called to be with the Lord. Janice and her son Jason joined Faith City Family Church in Newark, DE, where they loved to attend bible study. Janice and Louis loved to travel, especially to Louis' home in South Carolina, particularly to Hilton Head, where they were planning to vacation again this summer. She enjoyed family gatherings every year on Thanksgiving and Christmas. She especially loved decorating and celebrating the Christmas holiday, making it a beautiful tradition for her children and grandchildren. She loved visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to whom she enjoyed telling stories of the family history. Janice leaves behind her husband, Louis, children; Philip, Tracey, and Jason, four grandchildren; Philip Jr., Kirsten (Charles), Ariel, and Domenic, three great-grandchildren; Brayden, Poet, and Camlen, sister Joyce Peace, brother Benes (Andrea) Lawrence, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
