Adlia Moore

Obituary of Adlia A. Moore

“Wally” was born in Wilmington, Delaware on April 25, 1945 to the late Thomas and Margaret Ponzo.

“Wally” received her education in the Wilmington Public School System which culminated with her graduating from Wilmington High School.

“Wally” was employed by the Chrysler Corporation for over 30 years before retiring in 2007 as a vehicle inspector. She trusted God and accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

“Wally” married Ralph Moore, Sr. and together they had a son, Sean “Peanut” Moore. She adored her family and enjoyed quality time with them. She loved attending family events where she would make her rounds and show everyone in attendance love. She had that unique personality that made a person feel like they had been friends and/or family for years. Her motto was “Once family, always family”. Reading, crossword puzzles, and cards were just a few of her favorite hobbies. “Wally” was such an avid reader that she would often read several books in a day. One of her favorite things to do was play bingo and she could be found at many of the most popular bingo parlors in New Castle County often on Thursday and Saturday nights.

“Wally” was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Moore, Sr; her father Thomas Ponzo; her mother, Margaret Ponzo; brothers, Thomas, Jr. and Louis Ponzo; sisters, Minnie McCoy, Ruby Thomas, Sofia Allen, and Mary Williams.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving Sean “Peanut” Moore; two grandchildren, Nia and Sean Moore, II; adopted grandson, Donte Dixon; Stepchildren, Ralph Moore, Jr., Regina Patterson (Brian Sr., Kendra, Brian Jr., Brittany), and Regan Moore; Her siblings, Lottie Wilson, Shirley Robinson, Emma Golden, Theresa Henry (Doc), Anna Ponzo, Samuel Ponzo (Patricia), Lonnie Ponzo, Stacy Owens (Prentiss), Althea Anderson (Dwight), Maurcie Williams, Shirley Barnes, and Alberta Ponzo; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

“Wally” had three very close friends that she cherished and considered family; Fannie Bacon, Brenda Wilson, and Carrie Highsmith (deceased).
