Obituary of Ella Mae Knott
Ella Mae Gasby Knott was born on February 8, 1936 in Yorklyn, DE. She departed this life on February 17, 2021 at the age of 85.
Ella/mom Ella received her early childhood education from The Colored School in Hockessin, DE. She attended and Graduated from Howard High School for Cosmetology. After school she worked at the United States Post Office and Wilmington Trust where she retired in 2007.
Ella was a faithful member of Chippey AUM church. She couldn’t say enough kind words about the congregation how much she loved them and couldn’t wait to get back into the sanctuary to see everyone. Her hobbies were reading Bible Scriptures, her favorite scripture was the Fiery Furnace Daniel 3:1-30, word search, sudoku and playing games on her tablet. She was known for her coconut cakes.
Ella was preceded in death by her Mother Helen Gasby, Father Walter Gasby, Sister Velma Johnson, Brothers John, Lawrence, Thomas Gasby and Son Anthony Knott. Ella is survived by 2 daughters Gina & Lelitia Gasby, 2 sons James Knott (Mike) fiance Deborah Torres, Wayne Smith wife Barbara Smith, 2 GrandDaughters Shareeka Gasby & Ibelise Smith, 1 Great-GrandDaughter Aaronasha Gasby a host of relatives and friends.
She was loved by all that came to know her. She always had a kind word to say and mothering advice. She enjoyed spending time with her family and closest friends either talking on the phone or getting together for a family reunion. She loved reminiscing about the good ole days.
