Obituary of Ronnie Lee Mathis
Ronnie Lee Mathis was born May 3, 1957, in
Pine Bluff, Ark. to the late Florida Mae Mathis,
and Eddie Mathis Jr. He departed his life
peacefully at home January 11, 2021.
Ronnie received his education in the
public schools of Wilmington, De. He graduated
from P.S. DuPont High School in 1975. He also
attended Delaware Tech shortly after
graduating. Ronnie was employed for many
years at the Delaware Hospital, now called
Wilmington Hospital.
Flat Top, lived his life to the fullest. He
was full of love, smiles, and jokes. His nieces
and nephews know him to say “Hey, is that a
lump, or I just seen ya baby picture.” Spending
time with his family brought him so much joy.
He loved his sports and he was a true “Cowboys
fan”. He also enjoyed playing his numbers. Flat
was a very outgoing person, to have known him
was to love him. If no non-sense was a person I
would be “Flat Top”.
Ronnie was preceded in death by both
his mother and father, Florida Mae Mathis and
Eddie Mathis Jr. Four Brothers, Howard, Earl,
Levonne, and Lester Mathis. One nephew
Michael Greene. And his one and only brother
in-law the late Earnest Baker Jr. He leaves to
cherish his memories his maternal aunt Girtha
Johnson, paternal aunt Rosie Lee Scott. Three
sisters A. Faye Baker, Jennifer Mathis-Greene,
Lynetta Mathis, and one brother Pastors Larry
Mathis (Brenda).
