Obituary of Rosetta Dorsey-Davis

Rosetta Dorsey-Davis was born on October 12, 1932 in Nesmith, South Carolina to Lila Swinton-McGee and John Dorsey, with Travis McGee being a dedicated stepfather. Rosetta departed this life of Friday November 27, 2020 in Wilmington, Delaware. Rosetta received her early childhood education in Nesmith, South Carolina. Rosetta worked for and retired for the F.W. Woolworth Company. Rosetta came out of retirement to work for the Ministry of Caring Child Care Center, as a Foster Grandmother, a job that she held near and dear to her heart. Rosetta was a faithful member of Prayer & Praise Power Ministries, Pastor Harold Graylyn Johnson and Elder Shirley Cofer presiding. While being a faithful member of Prayer & Praise Power Ministries, Rosetta was part of The Sew Sassy Quilters. The word “Sassy” is one adjective that best describes Rosetta. The Sew Sassy Quilters, quilted blankets for sick children in hospitals within the tri-state area. The blankets were token of love that Rosetta found joy in helping to create. Rosetta was preceded in death by Tina Hemingway (Daughter); Leroy Davis (Husband); Danyal Bellamy (Granddaughter); Ira Brown (Grandson); Hassan Brown (Step-Grandson). Rosetta was survived by 5 Children: David, Jerome, and Edward Hemingway. Mary and Gary McKnight; 14 grandchildren: Robina & Crystal Hemingway; Jimmy Dwayne Brockington, Simon & Rodney Bellamy; Edward Hemingway Jr., Tia, Ebony & Teneysha Brown; Nafeisha & Bassman Brown; Sherell & Kishanda McKnight and Gary McKnight Jr.; 12 great-grand children; 1 Sister & 4 brothers: Elvina Burroughs of Selma, North Carolina; George McGee of Newark, New Jersey; Cleveland McGee of Buffalo, New York; Robert McGee of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Dudley McGee of High Point, North Carolina. Along with a host of loving family and friends.
