Obituary of Kevin E. Dempsey, Sr.

Kevin Eric Dempsey Sr. of Newark, DE passed away unexpectedly on November 19, 2020 in Philadelphia, PA. Kevin was affectionately known to his friends as B-More. He was born in Baltimore, MD on November 21, 1969 to Patrice L. (Dempsey) Calicott and the late Elvin G. Dempsey. He received his early childhood education from PS21 Elementary School and Garrison Jr. High School of Baltimore Maryland. In 1982, Kevin, his brother Elvin and mother moved to Wilmington, Delaware after marriage to Wm. Charles Calicott where he attended Tally Jr. High and Brandywine High School. Kevin has worked as a barber in Baltimore, MD and Wilmington, DE. While also working for The Port of Wilmington and as a long term temp at Chase Bank, Stanley Steamer, Domino's Pizza Warehouse and Vieola Environmental Services of New Jersey. With his most recent employer being employed by Prevention Point of Philadelphia, which he really enjoyed as he stated he felt like he was finally giving back to the community. Kevin loved to play basketball, take long drives while listening to R&B and rap.He loved movies, and probably has seen just about any movie you could think of. He enjoyed being outdoors, when it was not too hot or too cold, but mostly, he loved being around his family. Kevin especially loved horsing and playing around; while reminiscing on the time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Elvin G. Dempsey and father-in-law, Joseph Dale. Kevin is survived by his wife, La Kisha Dempsey, step-son Shamir Bruce, Kynasia and Kyree Dempsey of Swedesboro, NJ. His oldest daughter, Chelsea A. Warmkessel of Newark, DE with whom he had an amazing continued friendship with her mother, Edith Warmkessel. His oldest son, Kevin Dempsey Jr. of Baltimore, MD, while also proudly being the Bonus Dad to John and Janae Fortune of which he continued an amazing friendship with their mother Tyra Fortune as well. Kevin will be deeply missed by his mother Patrice L. Calicott and step-father, Wm. Charles Calicott of Newark, DE, grandmother, Edna J. Bacon of Newark, DE and brothers, Elvin G Dempsey of Philadelphia, PA, Christopher Calicott of New Castle, DE and sisters Shari (Calicott) Murphy of New Castle, DE, Nicole Farmer of Virginia Beach, VA, Tanisha (Stewart) Manlove of Wilmington, DE and Sharon Jackson of Middletown, DE; mother-in-law, Marilyn Taylor, Woodstown, NJ; brother-in-law, Troy Taylor (Dawn), West Deptford, NJ; Kevin will always be remembered fondly by his 3 grandchildren Marcai, Milan and Ares, and a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. The family would like for everyone to remember Kevin’s warm, loving smile, his kind words and always wanting to hug and embrace those he loved. He would always make sure he left saying “I Love You” and meant it from the bottom of his heart.
