Obituary of James Lamont Walker
James Lamont Walker, was born on August 24,1967 to Jimmie Walker & Barbara (Walker) Scurry in Wilmington Delaware. He was also affectionately known as Monie or Jimmy.
He received his education in the public school systems of Wilmington & New Castle; receiving his diploma from The James Groves Adult High School in 1987.
James was employed as a laborer in the construction industry. He gained much of his experience in construction from the family business, Walker Brother's Construction Company.
Monie enjoyed working in various occupations throughout his life and could always be found using the skills learned to "get his hustle on".
Early in life he was married to Edna Haskins. He later was united in matrimony to the late Samantha (Massey) Walker; who preceded him in death.
Monie enjoyed fishing, barbecuing, football, family gatherings, playing his numbers, hanging with his friends and having a great time.
At an early age, James was baptized at the Mt Zion Baptist Church by the late Rev. Addison D. Wilder. He also fellowshipped with Rev. Robert Revelle Sr. presiding prelate of the Mt. Zion Greater Harvest Ministries International.
James lived life on his own terms and loved his friends & family. Even through his declining health he would always ask if you were alright, and had a joke or jib to make you smile. He never met a stranger.
On Wednesday November 4, 2020 James peacefully departed this life with his family by his side.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Samantha Walker, stepmother Karen Walker and stepfather Leonard Scurry.
James will be forever cherished by his mother & father, Barbara Scurry & Jimmie Walker, son Joshua Walker, sisters Tanya Brown, Tashauna Walker & Carmella Smiley, brothers LeVon Thornton & Shannon Dennis, brother-in-law W.C.Brown, loving Godparents Mr. Paul Loper & Mrs. Patricia Pierce. Loving aunts Miami Walker & Davetta Walker; uncles Elmore, Willie & Roger Walker & Daniel Lanier; loving grandchildren Josiah, Alana & Terry and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins & many many many friends.
