Obituary of Pastor Lottie Mae Lee-Davis

Lottie Mae Lee-Davis was born August 11, 1958, in Wilmington, DE. to the late Berdine R. Lee and the late Essie D. Lee. She departed this life to be with the Lord on Friday, September 18, 2020 in Wilmington, DE. Lottie grew up in Dunleith Estates, receiving her early childhood education in the New Castle County Public School system, graduating from DeLaWarr High School in the class of 1976. She continued her education at Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD. obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Urban Studies and Community Development. During her time at Morgan State Lottie became a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. of which she was immensely proud. After graduation, she pursued her Master of Science degree in Public Management with a concentration in Urban and Community Planning from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. It was during this time she met Margaret Moon-Taylor and Beverly Portis who quickly became cherished friends. Additionally, Lottie holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Ministry from Christian World College of Theology and was a Doctor of Ministry Degree candidate at Newburgh Theology Seminary on schedule to graduate in 2021. She was employed as a Housing Development Coordinator with the State of Delaware Dept. of Health and Social Services, Division of Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities for 32 years. Her major responsibilities were policy analysis and program development for persons with disabilities in the area of housing. She was the departments housing liaison to federal, state, local and private housing agencies. Also, she served as the Department Coordinator for the development and implementation of the State Rental Assistance Program; in addition, she chaired the Departments Housing Working Group. Over the years, Lottie developed numerous housing projects but the ones dearest to her heart were the Westside Park Revitalization of Rodney Street, Connell and Father Tucker Parks, Be Ready CDC; Lazarus House and Esther’s Place Transitional Housing, along with her most recent project, spurred by a vision from the Lord, Solomon’s Court, a mixed use 18 unit affordable housing and commercial space project on the Westside of Wilmington directly across from her beloved church. Lee Enterprises, Real Estate Development Company, and co-owner of Kingdom Consultants LLC. Growing up, Lottie and her siblings traveled with their mother, Pastor Essie D. Lee preaching and spreading Gods word, later helping her to secure the Be Ready Jesus Is Coming church home at the top of the hill on 4th Street in Wilmington. After years of preaching in store front churches, this had been her mother’s lifelong dream to have a sanctuary large enough to accommodate and save hundreds of souls, while being a beacon in the community in which they served. Upon Pastor Essie Lee’s passing, it was not Lottie’s intention to follow in her mother’s footsteps, however circumstances and God’s calling in 2004 steered her in the direction of her destiny. Lottie was a faithful servant of the Lord and followed as He led her. She loved her congregation and supported them in many ways in and outside of the church. Her congregation loved her and showed it by following her lead and working the vision that God was providing Pastor Lottie. Lottie’s passion for helping others led her to create numerous personal growth opportunities for adults and youth everywhere she went, but especially in her immediate community. She had a way of seeing the good in people and developing their best qualities. Rarely did Lottie show anger but when she needed to get a point across, she was more than capable of doing so. Her favorite scriptures were John 3:16 and Philippians 4:3. Lottie was preceded in death by her grandfather, Bishop Jackie Jackson, and grandmother Pastor Lottie Jackson; father Berdine R. Lee and mother Pastor Essie D. Lee; brother Berdine A. Lee (the late Elder Ernestine Lee). Lottie is survived by her husband Flalandas Davis who supported the work she did in the community, and by her daughter Amira Davis, her pride, and joy. Mother and daughter spent many hours sitting and talking in the car in front of the house. This was their quality time together. Anyone who knew Lottie knew how proud she was of Amira and her accomplishments in the field of acting and dance. She would travel far and wide to see her baby perform in various productions. Lottie is also survived by her brother Minister Wayne DeShields (Lisa) who joined her in the ministry soon after she became a pastor; a devoted mother-in-law, Ella (Ms. Bessie) Cofer, whose cooking she often raved about and spent many hours enjoying; sister-in-law Clara (Teresa)Saunders, brother-in-law Herbie Davis; godchildren;Ebony Maddrey; Maurice Dorsey I; Joshua Gunter & Danajza Wilmore, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Lottie leaves to cherish her memory loyal, lifelong “ride or die” sister friends Sarah Johnson-Seeney and Vernita Dorsey.
