Obituary of Carl Derone Bond, Sr.

Carl D. Bond, Sr. was born on May 23, 1941 in Chester, Pennsylvania to the late Cecil W. and Frinjela Bond. He peacefully departed this life in his sleep on August 20, 2020 in Wilmington, Delaware. Carl graduated from Chester High School in 1960. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1963, and shortly after married the love of his life, Maryanne Fitzgerald. Carl attended Cheyney University and obtained his Associate of Arts Degree from Goldey-Beacom College in 1977. After serving in the Vietnam War, Carl was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy. Upon his return to Chester, Pennsylvania, he began his career with Coca-Cola Fountain Sales USA as a Territory Account Manager, and he ultimately retired as an Account Executive in 1989. Following in his father’s footsteps, Carl joined the Freemasons. He was elevated to the rank of 33rd Degree. He was a member of following Masonic Houses: • Past Master (Past Master) Rising Sun Lodge No. 2 • Grand Inspector General (GIG) Corinthian Consistory No. 5 • Past Potentate (PP) Suakim Temple No. 60 Carl was full of life and always the life of the party with his infectious smile. His attempt to make a long story short was always a crowd pleaser. His love of gadgets could have earned him a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. Carl was a human GPS and very exact with his directions. He was also notorious for getting in your car with his own GPS device. Carl had a heart of gold and a wealth of knowledge. He was a firm believer in family and instilled in his children that all you have at the end of the day is your WORD and your FAMILY. Carl was preceded in death by his father, Cecil W. Bond, Sr.; mother, Frinjela Bond; and three brothers, Myron Bond, Rodney H. Bond, Sr. and Clyde J. Bond, Sr. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Maryanne Fitzgerald Bond; his three children, Carl D. Bond, Jr., Marcella Bond-Toler (Lewis), and Eileen Pearsall; two brothers, Cecil W. Bond, Jr. (Linette), and Ronald A. Bond, Sr. (Sonja); brother-in-law, Ronald Sarmento (Dorie); seven grandchildren, Christopher A. Burton (Leslie), Brittany Toler-McNeill (Ronald), Ashleigh Allison (Matthew), Lewis M. Toler (Sasha), Crystina Bond, Eric Rutherford, and Cortnie Bond; five great grandchildren, Brendon Toler, Christopher H. Burton, Carter McNeill, Ryan McNeill, and Carsen Allison; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close family friends.
