Obituary of Moses A. Brunson, Jr.

Moses A. Brunson, Jr. was born on April 28th, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Moses A. Brunson, Sr. and Rachel Emory Brunson. He passed away suddenly on July 28th, 2020 at the age of 75. Moses, known to his family as “Junie”, graduated from DeLaWarr High School in New Castle, DE. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Army and served for two years, receiving honorable discharge. Moses was employed at the Chrysler Plant in Newark, DE. He later worked for the Opera House in Wilmington, DE, retiring after 17 years. He went on to work for Local #199 in Wilmington, DE. His final career was for Appoquinimink School District at Meredith Middle School in Middletown, DE, from which he retired. He was a lover of music, old movies, and enjoyed spending time with his best friends, Steven “Mailman” Lewis, Bernie Bayard and Lex Bayard. Moses was preceded in death by his parents, Moses Sr. and Rachel Brunson, and two sisters, Madlyn Dunbar Welch and Edna Roberts. Moses is survived by his fiancé, Virginia A. Saunders, his daughter, Angela Davis (Keenan Sr.), 3 grandchildren, Keenan Jr., Kima, and Mikayla, 2 sisters, Mary Newman and Martha Beard, his close nephew, Demetrius Beard (who helped him take care of his mother, Rachel) and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was loved by his honorary grandchildren, TK, Amiyah, James III, Daniella, Ava, Ezra, Averie, and Olivia. Moses will always be remembered as a fun, caring and giving spirit to those he came in contact with.
