Obituary of Jerrold L. Dickerson

Jerrold “Jerry” Dickerson, son of the late Francis C. Dickerson and Catherine Copper Dickerson was born on August 6, 1944 in Salem, NJ. He departed this life on Sunday, June 14, 2020. Jerry was born and raised in Salem, NJ. He attended the Salem Public School System and graduated from Salem High School. Jerry played Varsity basketball and helped lead his team to a State Group II Championship with a 26-0 record in 1963. He held a career-scoring record of 1418 points, his single-game high of 43, and season total of 574, which were all school records at the time. He was inducted in the South Jersey Hall of Fame in 1983. Jerry worked at Anchor Glass Container Corp. as a Palletizer Operator/ Utility Worker, he retired with “50 Years” of service in 2014. Jerry was an honorary member of “The Robinson Family” for over 27 years. He was a “Life Partner” to Kathy Robinson Carter, a second father to her children, and a grandfather to her grandchildren. Jerry enjoyed traveling with Kathy on cruises and family vacations. He enjoyed cooking, eating out, going to the movies, watching his sports on tv. He also loved going to parties and dancing. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Betty (Parsley) Dickerson, his brother Marcellus Dickerson, sisters Victoria and Thessalonia Dickerson, brother-in-law Charles Parsley, sister-in-law Claretha (Skeetie) Dunn, niece Rhonda Sorrell and nephews Michael Dickerson Jr. and Craig Parsley Jerry is survived by his sister Theodora Berry and his brother Robert Dickerson, his son Jerrold Williams and stepson Reginald Parsley. Brother-in-laws: Cecil (Rose), Lionel, and John (Nancy) Parsley. A host of nieces and nephews: Leslie Dickerson, Donna Lusby, Sharron Berry, Lisa Dickerson, Michael Dickerson; Temeka, Tahaj, Maurice, and Antwan Berry; R.J. and Sharonda Lockhart; Tori, Darrel, Lamont, and Dwayne Lusby; Angela, Kerry, Cecil Jr., Kelliah, Arnold, Michael, Michelle, Leslie, Derrick, Teresa, Denice, and Reggie Parsley; Debbie, Clarence, and Betty (Peanut) Dunn, John Shank and many other relatives and friends. He also leaves to cherish his “Life Partner” Kathy R. Carter, and his extended family: Stepchildren Shanell Robinson, Danyelle (Jay) Marts, Walter and Ryan Carter. Grandchildren ZaKeya, Danyelle (Shae), Ulundi, Montika, Starrchild, Dymir, Raina, Walter III, Khloe, Kayden, Shanya, Nehemiah, Princeton, Peyton, Charlee, Keidyn, and Ulundi III.
