Uncle Tee, celebrating your life during this time of Virtual reality is so unique. I spoke to you last on your 92nd birthday, April 15, 2020, and looked forward to speaking to you again soon unfortunately the Creator had other plans. You always made me smile when you recognized my voice right a way, even if we had not spoken in months. You will always hold a Special place in my heart for all that you did for my family and I before you left Detroit and while I was a student at Wilberforce University. I send my Love and prayers to William, Robin, Stevie, Tara, Adrienne and your grands who's names I don't know. I Love and will miss you, "Unk"! Rest in Peace.
Love Always,
Bae Bae

Dear Mr. Steve I will truly miss you, your patient steady methodical rational thoughts, I remember you & Dad having your business together, I would see you every Saturday, you would keep me out of trouble, saying to me camly, don't do that you will get in trouble, your voice so calm would get my attention, I would obey. The geniune concern in your eyes, & demeanor always touch my soul. You & Dad were like brother's & I felt you were like my Uncle. I know you fought a good fight, because you were the epidomy of strength. To the Williams family who are my family to, my thoughts, heart, & prayers are with you. Uncle Steve RIIP. I know you are happy now, with no more pain. Love you, will truly miss you, Thank you for being you.

Mr. Steve, Mr. Steve, Mr. Steve,
Sometimes mere words can seem so banal and not enough to express the impact someone had on your life. Indeed, words do not do justice as to how thankful my brother, sister and I feel to have had you as part of the fabric of our respective lives. We are so grateful that the journey you took, as part of the great migration, where you and other African Americans had the courage to leave the South, and find your way north in search of dignity and better life intersected with a similar journey of our parents. When we reminisce about growing up in Wilmington, in addition to the memories of a milkshake at Dandees, or creaking floorboards at Wilmington Dry Goods, or Elsie the cow peering down from the Borden’s billboard on Market street – we think of the wonderful people who were part of our lives and at the top of the list is you, Mr. Steve; whose presence is deeply embedded in those memories. Indeed, from giving my brother’s his first ever haircut to having you as a “gentle” bid whisk card partner to watching you roll that beautiful left-handed bowling ball on Sunday night, as part of the Sunday Night Social League and as part of the “Strikers” with my parents. You always exuded a positive spirit and a calming warmth. The class and grace and the true friendship you had with my family; friendship not necessarily measured in years – are wonderfully and gracefully etched in our minds and we treasure as a gift, because it illustrated for us, what it meant to be, truly, a lifelong friend.
To Robin, Tara and Stevie – we extended our heartfelt condolences and emphatically want you all to know, just how much your Dad meant to us and we are honored and blessed to have known him. After a lifetime of friendship, it is very difficult to say goodbye. Our deepest sympathy to your family and please know you are in our prayers.

To The Family of Mr. Steve:
I light this candle in memory of Mr. Steve who I got to know as a church, pew friend.
You could not find a kinder, nicer person as Mr. Steve. I will miss seeing him whenever we return to church and talking to him.
My prayers are with the family at the loss of such a very loved and kind gentleman.
