Obituary of Michael Walker

Michael Walker affectionately known as “Mike” was born August 4, 1965 to the late Delores Walker-Lyle and Arthur Coleman. He departed this life on May 10, 2020 in the company of his love ones. His early public education was received in Wilmington, DE. Michael graduated from Christiana High School in Wilmington, Delaware in 1984. Michael loved to cook and use to work as a prep cook in restaurants around the city of Wilmington. He worked as a handyman on various home projects including lawn care. Michael accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior, and he believed that Jesus died on the cross for our sins; and that He arose from the dead victoriously powerful! He loved Elder Robert Goodman and sought spiritual advice from him. Michael attended The Men’s Group of New Life United Holy Church. Michael loved and cherished his family, and everybody loved Michael! Michael was a peace- loving person and always had a smile for you when he saw you. Michael was a momma’s boy. He deeply loved and took great care of his now deceased mother. He was affectionately known as “40.” Michael loved rolling with his sidekick, his nephew, Jakai. Michael was everybody’s babysitter! He did not mind keeping a watchful eye on his younger relatives, and they loved “uncle Mike.” Michael loved football and basketball. He was a die-hard Eagle’s fan. He enjoyed family get-togethers with food and songs. He loved to read sports articles, newspapers, and the bible. Michael was a thinker and had creative ideas for re-entry programs designed to help inmates re-enter into society. Before he departed this life, he kept a schedule to stay in a positive mind set. His schedule read: Get your mind right. Start your morning with a workout. Do something positive. Make a 12-12 meeting. Eat healthy. Pray before bed and do a good deed each day for someone. Two of his many favorite quotes are “stay sucker free” and “stay in your lane.” At the end of his list he stated “if following these instructions right as written, you shall have all the success in your world, Peace.” Michael was preceded in death by his sister,, Dr. Emma “Vicky” Burgess and brother, Aubrey Walker. Michael leaves to cherish his precious memories his daughters, Lashell, Portia, and Janera. His sisters Elease “Sally” Hawkins, Patricia Trader (Warner), Michelle Walker (Sife), Annette, Hannah, and Hazel (Coleman). Brothers, Karl D. Walker, Maurice Walker (Flower), Arthur and Daniel Coleman; grandchildren, Michael, Trenidy, Taniyeah, Zyiera, Kemad and Kesaun; great-granddaughter, Brooklynn; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
