Obituary of Janet Irene Scott

Janet Irene Scott departed life on Tuesday May 12, 2020. She was “in home” hospice at her daughter’s home in Bear, Delaware. Janet Irene Scott was born on May 25, 1943 in Wilmington, Delaware, affectionately known as “Jan –Jan” to her close friends and family. She was the daughter of the late Robert Walter Larkin and Elsie Boyer Larkin and the eldest of eight brothers and sisters. Janet attended the Wilmington public schools and earned an Associates degree in Early Childhood Education from Delaware State University. She later became employed with the Public School System as a Teachers Aide at North East Elementary School “Head Start Program” and years later became employed with Amtrak as a Customer Service Representative until her retirement in 2003. Janet was united in marriage to the Honorable Arthur Lee Scott Sr in 1961. From this union, two children were born, Arthur Lee Scott, Jr. and Dawn Scott-Brown. Janet was outgoing and a sociable person who made friends easily and was liked by all who knew her. She enjoyed riding on the train, shopping and playing bingo. She especially enjoyed long conversations with her granddaughter Courtney who introduced her to social media, like on line dating, Grubhub food delivery and Uber! Janet leaves to cherish her memory Ex-husband Honorable Arthur L. Scott Sr.; two children “Dawnie” & “Autie”; Siblings Robert Larkin Jr. (Bobby) Colorado Springs, CO; Phyllis Holloway-Beeler Hawthorne, CA; Brenda Williams, Wilm, DE; Larry Larkin Rockford, IL; Errol Larkin Rockford, IL; Kenneth Larkin Murrietta, CA; Lois Davis Placentia, CA; Eugene Larkin Wilm, DE; Gregory A. Brown Sr., (son in law) Janice Scott (daughter in law); Grandchildren Dominic Brown, Courtney Brown, Gregory A. Brown Jr. & Autina Scott, along with special friend DJango (family dog) and many host of family and friends including Cortess Tucker and Shannel Jones who lovingly shared prayers with her during the last moments of life.
