Lillian Marie Lacy-Jones, daughter of the late Mary E. Wilson and Francis W. Cole. Lillian was born on August 10, 1933 and departed this life on April 13, 2020 in Christian Care Wilmington Hospital. Lillian was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. Lillian attended the Wilmington public school systems, graduating from Howard High School. She furthered her education by earning a degree in the Human Service at Delaware Technical Community College. Lillian became employed for the Wilmington Medical Center within the Emergency Department. Shortly afterwards, Lillian was appointed to a challenging career working with the disadvantaged and poverty stricken populations; which elaborated over 30 years as a Community Health Coordinator and being nominated and elected to oversee the Ombudsman Program. Lillian was the first African American to achieve this honor. Lillian has served on the Health Care Task Force, was an active member of the Mt. Zion AUMP Church, became an “Black Achiever” with the Medical Center of Delaware, volunteered at Riverside Hospital on the Junior Board and served on many boards; also including the President of the West Center City Adult Seekers board of trustees. Lillian was a very passionate and professional individual. For those who knew Lillian, she was very sympathetic yet empathic to others while always remaining firm when advocating for others. She was very passionate about helping others and standing up for the things that she believed in. She would always say, “now let’s just cut through the chase, because I see a situation here”. Lillian never left any stone unturned and didn’t believe in starting things she was unable to finish. She loved reading, game shows, pinochle, and could put together any puzzle; without producing a sweat. Lillian will always be remembered as a true fashion icon, her trademark of rocking the most phenomenal hats and of course, her beautiful smile. Lillian was preceded in death by her late Mother; Mary E. Wilson, Late Husband Stewart Jones, Late Grandson Andre Dennis, six brothers, Leon, Eugene, Francis, Donald, Willard, and Darrel, Two sisters Edith and Elizabeth.
