Obituary of Jaleel De’Shawn Perkins

On December 16, 1990 a precious baby boy, Jaleel De'Shawn Perkins, was born to Shawn Patrick Perkins and Shaneka D'vette Greene (Brokenbrough) in Newark, Delaware. Jaleel was raised along with his siblings in New Castle, Delaware. His grandmother, Gwendolyn Tolliver, aka "Mom Mom", played an important role in raising him. Jaleel graduated from William Penn High School in 2009. He was on the Varsity Football team. He attended Valley Forge Military College and Erie Community College. He also played Semi Pro football for the Wilmington Wolfpack Football team. Jaleel had a big heart and would do anything to help anyone. He loved Basketball and Football and loved hanging out with his friends. But what was most dearest to his heart was his son Jaleel De'Shawn Perkins Jr, "Fats" as he would call him. Jaleel was full of life, always had jokes and had an infectious smile. His ability to converse with anyone that crossed his path demonstrated his love for people. Jaleel is survived by his son, Jaleel Perkins Jr, mother, Shaneka Greene, father, Shawn Perkins, Stepfather, Walter Greene, grandmother, Gwendolyn Tolliver, brothers Joshua Brokenbrough, Shawn Perkins , Joel Brokenbrough, Quincey Perkins, Stepbrother Walter Greene IV. Derick Phillips who Jaleel saw as a father figure and called "Dad" , a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. Jaleel transitioned to Glory on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. His life will continue to live on through his seed and his seed's seed for generations to come. We all say "We love you Leel" and you will forever be in our hearts.
