Obituary of Charlotte Maria Diggs

Charlotte Maria Thomas was born on June 17, 1958 in Paterson, New Jersey. Her birth parents were Charles Thomas and Mary Dela Rankins, however she was raised by Martha and Bernnie Mears of Glassboro New Jersey (NJ).  Charlotte entered her eternal resting place on Tuesday, November 19, 2019.

She received her early childhood education in the Glassboro Public School System and graduated in 1976 from Glassboro High School, Glassboro, NJ. After completing her education Charlotte started her career in the health care industry. Her employment history consists of 45 years of working as a devoted professional. She worked as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant in the following capacities, Shady Lane Nursing Home, Clarksboro, NJ; Private duty cases out of Paulsboro NJ; and Caring Touch Home Care Agency, Bell Haven, Virginia. Her most recent employment was with the Resources for Human Development and Quality Management Administration in Wilmington, Delaware.

Charlotte was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, 412 Stranger Ave., Glassboro, NJ.Her greatest joys were her children and grandchildren. As a young lady she enjoyed roller skating and bike riding. She loved to cook, loved people, and took great pleasure in inspiring others to be their best. Charlotte had a heart as big as her smile and was known for her long tight hugs.

Charlotte was married to Larry D. Diggs for 25 years (1984-2009) and from this union were born two daughters, Charece Marie, and Lori Lynn, of Wilmington, DE. She was blessed with four grandsons, Kenneth Mapp Jr, Raheem Hope Jr, Justice Mapp, and Jessiah Mapp; and one granddaughter, Kendori Mapp.

She is proceeded in death by her father, Charles Thomas Sr., brother, Charles Thomas Jr, grandfather, Stanford Allen Sr, grandmother, Annie Allen, and uncle, John Allen Sr. Also, she shared a precious relationship with mother-in-love, Willie Mae (Diggs) Jackson

Charlotte leaves to cherish her memory; four sisters Vanessa Norman; and Sylvia Thomas-Collazo (Ramon); Charlene Finnigan (Timothy); Cheryl Berryhill (Lester); four brothers Robert and Charles Thomas; Charles Rankins; and Erick Mikel (Nina); three sisters-in-law Doris  Hargrove, Dianna Jackson/deceased,  L. Jean Brown (St. Clair) and Bertha M. Diggs; five brothers-in-law, Joseph Diggs Jr (Chrystal/deceased), Leroy Diggs (Toni/deceased); Jerry Diggs, Irwin Diggs and Steven Diggs. Also, she leaves a plethora of family and friends who loved her dearly and will miss the joy that she brought to their lives.
