Obituary of Aubrey Walker

Aubrey Walker, affectionately known as Aurb was born December 13, 1954 in Rocky Point, North Carolina to Delores Walker Lyle and Thomas Southerland (deceased).  He transitioned to his heavenly home on October 6, 2019 at home.

Aubrey received his early education in the Wilmington Delaware school system.  He received certification as a painter from Job Corps in Joliet, IL.  He was self-employed as a painter for a while.

He worked for General Motors for 14 years and Chrysler Corporation for 21 years prior to retirement.

Aubrey accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and became a member of Prayer Temple Ministries in Newark, Delaware more than 5 years ago.

Aubrey had a very unique and audible voice.  Where ever he was, you knew he was in the building!

He enjoyed painting and all types of music; especially jazz, and oldies: But, his passion was playing the BONGOS! He and his friends would often play bongos in public parks throughout the City of Wilmington. He was a BIG Dallas Cowboys fan.  “YEEAH!!!!  B O Y” (you would always hear him say this).

Aubrey will be tremendously missed by his family and all who was blessed to know him.  He was a no-nonsense, kind, generous and loving person.  Aubrey, himself, wanted you all to know “He was a good man” and “He tried to do good.”

Aubrey was preceded in death by his sister, Dr. Emma L. Burgess.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory: his mother Delores Lyle, his daughter, Mirahia Walker, step children: Jai Boyer and Kenae Black (Kevin). Granddaughter: Makai Brevard, step grandchildren: Chai Boyer, Jai Boyer, Jr.,  Kenin Black.  Sisters: Elease "Sally" Hawkins, Patricia Trader (Warner, Sr.), Michelle Walker. Brothers: Karl D. Walker, Michael Walker, Maurice Walker. Devoted friend, Michael Baise, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Lovingly Submitted by The Family
