Obituary of Aaron Howard Pretlow Junior

Aaron Howard Pretlow Junior was born on July 2, 1993 in Baltimore, Maryland to Aaron Pretlow, Sr. and Kimberley Davis Pretlow. He received his Angel Wings on August 25, 2019 at his home in Newark, Delaware.

Aaron earned his diploma from Appoquinimink High School in 2011. He briefly studied at the University of Delaware before he began his employment at Chimes Delaware in 2012 and continued there through 2019. 

Aaron was very involved athletically, socially, and spiritually.   As a member of the Special Olympics of Delaware (2007 - 2019), he played many sports, to include: Flag Football, Cycling, Soccer, Basketball, Softball, Bowling, and even dabbled in Bocce. He also participated in the Special Olympics Toastmasters Program.  Among his favorite sports, Aaron loved to swim, participated in weekly boxing activities with the Down Syndrome Association of Delaware, and loved wrestling.  As a member of the Easterseals, Aaron attended Camp Fairlee in Chestertown, MD annually. Notably, Aaron was in The Achiever’s Inc. Program (sponsored by the Links, Inc., Wilmington (De.) Chapter and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Wilmington Alumni Chapter) and was a recipient of their Hawkins Memorial Inspirational Award in 2011.

Aaron was called to salvation at Ames United Methodist Church in Bel Air, Maryland and was re-baptized at Pilgrim Baptist Church, where he

Aaron was called to salvation at Ames United Methodist Church in Bel Air, Maryland and was re-baptized at Pilgrim Baptist Church, where he continued to be a faithful member since his family relocated to Delaware in 2006. At Pilgrim Baptist Church, he was very active in the young adult ministry (where he currently serves as the Chaplain), the Young Adult Choir, the Men of Valor Choir, Unity Choir, and the Mass Choir.  He also served as the Marshall for the annual “Daughters in Christ” Gala and has received the Pilgrim Baptist Church BrotherhoodMinistry’s Outstanding Achievement Award.

Aaron has never met a stranger and was truly loved by everyone. There was no one who came in his presence that was not impacted by his charm, his wit, or his overall good nature. Without a loss of words, Aaron could keep up with any conversation in any given moment or circumstance. His enthusiasm for life was infectious and he left an impression on everyone with whom he came in contact. He loved to attend dances at the ARC and was definitely one to enjoy fellowshipping with family and friends. 

Aaron is preceded in death by his Grandmother, Brenda Bridgefort and his Great Grandmother, Ethel Small.

He leaves to cherish fond memories: His parents, Aaron Pretlow, Sr. and Kimberley Davis Pretlow, both of Newark, Delaware; his grandfather, Joshua Pretlow, Jr. of Chesapeake, Virginia, grandmothers; Sandra Davis and Geraldine Small, both of Newark, Delaware, a brother, Brandon Pretlow, a sister, Courtney Pretlow (both of Newark, Delaware), an uncle, Daryl Pretlow of Houston, Texas, a host of great uncles, great aunts, cousins, extended family, and friends.
