Obituary of Gary Lee Brown, Jr.

Gary L. Brown, Jr, age 76, passed away on Thursday,        August 8, 2019 at the Christiana Health Care Hospital in Newark, Delaware. 

Gary affectionately called “Thomas” was born to Gary L. Brown, Sr. and Thelma Peterson Brown on March 2, 1943.  Gary was born and raised in Johnsonville, South Carolina, where he also attended school. 

Gary was married to Corrine Brown for 21 years in which she preceded him in death on March 30, 2000. 

Gary was a handworker, he came to Delaware looking for work.  He moved to Delaware around 1966.  His cousin, Wilbur helped him find work and he went back and brought his parents up to Wilmington in 1967.  Gary is the oldest of nine children.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Lonnie Brown and two        sisters, Martha A. Brown and Annie L. Brown-Smith. 

Gary was a man of his word.  If he told you he was going to do something he would do it.  Gary was a great help to hi s brother, Alfonzo during his sickness.  He also enjoyed listening to baseball and basketball games on the radio.  The Dodgers were one of his favorite team. 

Gary joined Latter Day Baptist Church under the Pastorate of Rev. Dr. Wayne S. Miles. 

Gary leaves to cherish his memories; three brothers, Marion (Sarah) Brown, Alfonzo (Mary) Brown, Paul (Valarie) Brown all of New Castle, Delaware; two sisters, Ella (Tony) Frye of Covington, Kentucky and Mary A. Whitely from Wilmington, Delaware; two devoted friends, Bumby and Tank and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
