Roger Williams

Obituary of Roger C. Williams

Roger Carlton Williams, Sr. (also known as RC) peacefully departed this life to be with the Lord on the morning of Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at the Saint Frances Hospital, Compassionate Care Unit, Wilmington, Delaware.

Roger was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 20, 1947 to Mamie Preston Williams and the Late Dollie Williams. He was the eldest of nine siblings. Roger was preceeded in death by his son, Roger C. Williams, Jr. on February 26, 1992 and two of his brothers, John D. Williams and Augustus E. Williams.

In Roger’s earlier years, he attended the Philadelphia Public Schools and also Dobbins Vocational Technical School.  He received his certification as an electrical technician and also received a certification in plumbing, heating and air conditioning.  Roger also served in the armed forces in the Army Branch from March 1977 to March 1979.  After being honorably discharged from the Army, he moved to Wilmington, DE and found employment at the Hercules, Inc. While being employed at Hercules, he also taught HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) at Delcastle Vocational Technical High School.  Roger furthered his education and certification and was Professionally licensed as a Master Plumber and as a Master HVAC Technician in the State of Delaware.

Roger was a proud business man and being fully certified, Roger then established his own business and named it Pyramid Plumbing, Heating & AC Company. He also was employed at The City of Philadelphia Airport and retired after serving 10 years as an HVAC Technician.

Roger enjoyed traveling, watching tv, fishing and visiting casinos.  One of his favorite types of travel was cruises and about a week before his last cruise on December 3, 2018 to the beautiful islands of the Bahamas, he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior in his life.  This made the trip all the more enjoyable and he really had a wonderful time.

Roger was the type of man who believed in investing in others.  Although he was an employer, he spent time teaching and mentoring his constituents as well as his employees and was often called on to help solve technical problems on difficult jobs. He had no problem with giving his best and with the intention of passing the torch to the younger generation.

Roger leaves to cherish his beloved fiancé Ethel A. Williams, his daughter April Williams, his mother Mamie Williams, Mother-In-Law Sara J. Shockley; 7 step sons; Antonio L. Shockley (deceased), Richard Williams, Khalil Williams (Dana), Allen Fair (Jamie), Jasper Fair (Tanya), Michael Fair and Eric Fair; Three step daughters: Valerie Mitchell, Julie Torres (Tiburcio aka Nippy) and Sabrina Carroll; Three brothers: Phillip Williams (Solange), Charles Douglass Williams and Guy Williams (Cheryl); Three sisters: Cynthia Williams-Gray, Patricia J.
