Linda Cotton

Obituary of Linda R. Cotton

Linda Roberta Cotton was born on February 26, 1956 to Lillian Handy Cotton & Charles L. Cotton, Sr. On the morning of January 24, 2019, God called Linda into eternal rest at her residence in Chester, Pennsylvania. Linda was the 3rd born of 7 siblings.

Linda was educated in the Somerset County Public School System and graduated from Washington High School in Princess Anne, Maryland. After high school, she relocated to Chester, Pennsylvania with her sister and brother-in-law. While in Chester she trained as a nursing assistant and went to work for Fair Acre Nursing Facility in Media, Pennsylvania for many years.

“Duck” as she affectionately called by many of her friends and family, was an outgoing person. She would always make her presence known. When Duck would show up, she would greet everyone with a loud “Heeeeyyy… how yall doing”  She had a giving spirit and would give you the shirt off of her back if you needed it.

Even though Linda never had children, she loved her nieces and nephews like they were her own children. She knew all of them, AND their children by name. Linda loved having them spend summers with her in Pennsylvania and cooking her “special meals” for them.

Linda was feisty and firm. You did not have to guess what was on her mind. She would let you know exactly what she thought. She had a strong belief in God.  She attended BVT Ministries in Wilmington, Delaware under the leadership of Dr. Marci Tilghman Bryant, and would often press her way to service, even when her health began to fail.  She would often say “I’m going to LIVE, until I die.”

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Sr. & Lillian Cotton; and her brother Kevin Cotton. She leaves to cherish wonderful memories, her two sisters; Dr. Marian (Marci) Tilghman Bryant , and Wanda Cotton; 3 brothers, Charles L. Cotton, Jr., Darnell F. Cotton (Tywanda), and Steven (Swazey) T. Cotton (Calvileen); nieces & nephews, Patrice (Jason), Clarence Jr. (Tanya), Latonya, Tomeka (Dale), Eric, Charles, Darnell, Shaunice, De’Andre, Brian (Tapeaka), Morris (Manika), Stephon, Aubrey, Diont’e; extended family, Levin Williams, Brenda Williams, Calvin Williams, and Rodney Johnson; and a host of great nieces & nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
