Obituary of Edwardson A. Greene

Edwardson Greene, better known as Sweets, was born on October 11th, 1941 on the island of Antigua and passed on December 18th 2018 in New York.  He was the son of the late Herman and Daisy Greene. He is survived by his wife Yolanda Lewis-Greene; his children, Pernell, and his sons Quintin & Mackenzie, and his wife Krystal; Desiree and her daughters, Denean and D’Nisha, Royaleen and her son Briece; Melville and his sons Vanasdel and Shemar, Lyndon and his daughters Lynell & Lynnier; Barrett and his wife Michelle with their children Claire and Ryan, Makesa and her husband Delrie with their children Shakesa, Kessarrie, Michaiah and Benaiah; Indiera and her daughters Shalissa and Asha; Patty and her husband Colin and their children Caiden, Audrianna and Aleksandra, Edwardson Jr. and Sharia.  

 

His siblings are Carlton, Wallace (deceased), Blondell, Sonia, Philomena, Velma, Avonelle, Cheryl, Aloma, Melville, Stedroy, Asquith, Verdon; and their children including Shenneth, Elsa and Wendy King and Karen, Valerie Mitchell, Dorecia, Melville and Daron Greene. He was the brother-in-law of Samuel Lewis and his children.  He was the son-in-law of Hyacinth Lewis and the late Walter Lewis.  

 

Edwardson "Sweets" Greene grew up in the Village of Swetes in Antigua before moving to Villa at a very young age and finally Marble Hill. It was not until he retired, that he migrated to Delaware. Edwardson worked at the Antigua Port Authority for over 40 years, starting when the Port opened to commercial traffic in 1969.He held numerous positions over the years including captain of the Tug Usher before finally being promoted to the Chief Pilot, a position he held for over25 years.  He loved the sea, Port Authority, and spending time with his family and friends.   He had many friends, too numerous to mention. But he was close to Winston Gomes, Dwight Gardiner, Troy Josiah, Bobby, Raul, the late Winston Bailey and the late Favel Jeffrey (Monk), who he spoke to everyday.
