Obituary of George Roland Rochester

George Roland Rochester, 81 transitioned this life on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Our Home in the Country II, Worton Maryland.

He was born May 30, 1937 in Rock Hall, Maryland to James L Rochester Sr. and Estelle Mary Hawkins Rochester.

George, “Pie or Rock” as he was known was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Helen Sheppard Rochester, 3 sisters Leslie Rochester, Marva Eadie, and Ruby Hamilton.  1 brother, Charles Rudolph Rochester, Sr. and a special nephew, Charles R."Brotherman” Rochester, Jr.

George was educated in the Kent County School System and was a 1956 graduate from Garnett High School.  He retired from the UAW/Daimler Chrysler Corporation, in Newark,Delaware on December 31, 1998 after 30 years of service.  He was a member of Aaron Chapel United Methodist Church where he once served as an Usher and was also a member of the Elks, IBPOE of W, in Rock Hall, Maryland.

After his retirement George moved to Grasonville with Karen Thomas and her 3 girls, Colee, Deja, and Heather.  He was known as Pop Pop to them and their children.  He had a soft spot in his heart for “Nas” and talked of him often.

He is survived by a brother, James L “Bates” Rochester, Jr., 3 stepsons, Isiah Smith, Lonnie Smith, and James “Jimmie Lee” Sheppard.  10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren.   1 Sister-in-law, Rosa Lee Rochester, Special nieces, Sheryll James, Desiree Rochester, Dr. Stacey Eadie and Loretta Brickhouse Jackson, a special nephew James L. “Road” Rochester, III,  a special cousin; Michael Sisco, close friends; Clarence Wilson, Sr. and George Hynson.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
