Sorry to hear about the passing of Pedro. What a great athlete! He was only 5’6” as I recall, but his short stature never stopped him. He played far above his height in baseball, basketball, and football too. We both went to Newark High School and played Little League together but on different teams. He played on the Cubs and I played on the Phillies, but we joined together on the All-Star team. He use to come to my house on Bent Lane to play pick-up basketball in our driveway. He was a good person, generous, and a really outstanding athlete.

I like to express my deepest sympathy for your loss. It was never God’s intent that death should rule over mankind. - Romans 5:12; 1Corinthians 15:26, 55; He will do away with it and He has provided hope-as stated at John 5:28, 29. During this most painful time please find comfort from the scriptures.

John 5:28, 29; Revelation 21:4 I hope you find comfort in these promises. My deepest sympathy goes out to all the family.

Thanks Ped for the memories you gave me. You always took time to teach what you learned. Basketball football and especially track. You made me a hurdler who went on to win the state finals. Thanks Bro. It meant a lot to have someone older pass it on. You were a fierce competitor but a truly nice guy. I can’t remember you ever having a harsh word for anyone. May God bles your soul as He receives you into His loving arms. Proud to have known you Bro one of the greats of Newark’s section

To the entire Swann Family, from your cousin Lauren.
I was so very saddened to hear that my cousin had passed. I know you all will miss him greatly, as will many other people- including me. So many fond memories- memories that include Pedro swimming with us as kids up at Inky's Pool; yearly BBQ's at his house and the crab eating and softball games that ensued; and, the numerous summer nights that he stayed around to chat when the Newark Crew would be on Ray St hanging out.
I fondly remember how I was welcomed into the Swann home many weekends and holidays while I attended Del State. Pedro and Bev treated me as if one of their own was home from college, and I loved every minute of it!
To Bev, Louie, Darius, Maurice, Pepper and the rest of the family, I offer my deepest condoloences. I am so sorry for your loss. Pedro is gone, but he will not be forgotten.
My love to all of you, Lauren

My thoughts and prayers to Pedros family and many friends. I got to know Pedro from my friendship with Pepper going back to 82'. He always welcomed me with a smile wherever I ran into him be it at his house, mom's house or at the Wawa. Never saw him play but my uncle assured me he was well respected and a force at everything he did . He will be missed by all, remembered by many. Peace be with you all.

Condolences to the Swann Family. I played with and against Pedro for many years in high school, blue/gold and semi-pro baseball. Our rivalry was intense but our friendship was genuine. I have told many people that Pedro was the best athlete I competed with or against at any level, anywhere. His combination of quickness, speed, power and instinct were a special gift. He was a fierce competitor but I also saw him as a gentleman at the same time. A legend has passed. I will remember him fondly. Peace be with Pedro and his family.

So very sorry to hear of the passing of a close and dear friend who we have known for several years. A man among men who always greeted you with a smile and firm handshake, or hug. We both met Pedro at an early age (Hollis and he played in the all star game together in 1968) I played baseball with him at DSC and watched him bat 411 in his freshman and win the national hitting title. He was always your friend and he seemed as though he could do anything on the field or court. He will surely be missed as I always looked forward to seeing him at DSU, Delaware, Middletown, Caravel or where there was a good game being contested. Family always remember the great times you shared and when you think back and smile he will still be there in your hearts and souls. God bless all of you and this to shall pass with time and prayer.

My sincere sympathy to the Swann family. Pedro was a great man and friend to many. He inspired so many young athletes with his dedication to sports. I always enjoyed our conversations whenever I saw him. I will never forget watching his son hit a home run off Roger Clemens during the O's v Yanks game and the next morning I walked out my front door and here comes Pedro driving down my street in one of the Mtown's trucks with this Great "Big" Grin on his face. I think he must have smiled all day long! RIP my friend, we will all miss you.

I'm very sorry to hear of the passing of Pedro. I met him while a member of the Delaware Softball Umpires Association. (DSUA) We worked many a game together and he was easy to work with and a pleasure to be around. He always spoke fondly of his family.
