Obituary of Sorden Marshall Davis, Sr.

Sorden Marshall (Cookie) Davis Sr., 73, of Smyrna, DE passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Sorden was born December 23, 1943 in Wilmington, DE to the late Mildred Thompson and James Davis.

 Sorden received his early childhood education in the Wilmington Public School system.  After graduating, Sorden worked as a chef for the DuPont Company for 15 years.  Sorden also worked for the Hilton Corporation and other top notch companies as a chef, before becoming ill.

Sorden was a faithful member of the Fight for Families Fellowship Church.  He loved cooking, going fishing, watching sports (especially football), and music.  Sorden was a wonderful man who loved the Lord.  He would do whatever he could to help his family and friends.

 Sorden was preceded in death by his parents, his two sons, Shiva M. Davis and Sunna M. Davis and three brothers James Barkley, Roger Davis, and Lavern R. Davis.

Sorden leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife of 55 years Cozalene J. Davis, one son Sorden M. (Christine M.)Davis Jr. two daughters Sharon M. Davis and Suzette M. Davis; two brothers Burnell (Debbie)  Kilson and William (Valerie) Davis: five sisters, Deacon Sylvia E. (Rev. John) Bailey, Valerie E. Davis, Cheryl M Davis, and Minister Martina  (Lewis IV) Hagler; eight grandchildren, James (TJ) Davis, Sorden Davis III, Shri M Davis, Brianna L. Davis, Lola Davis, Eric Davis, and Shiva Davis; a few great grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

 

 

Those we love never die, for as long as we live and remember, they are with us.
