I didn't know Melissa personally.. I have taken her step classes over the years and her smile and bubbly personality was just amazing!! Everyone that entered her class she always made you feel welcome. You will be missed dearly.

To the family of Melissa,
I did not have the opportunity to formally meet you but I feel like I knew you because your wife and mother expressed how much she loved you all with such sincerity that it was evident that you meant the world to her.
My husband and I were part of her Tuesday night step class and she was way more than an instructor to us. She was such a "Godspiration". When I met her I was just beginning to gain back my strength from battling an illness. I remember she asked "are there any first time steppers tonight?" when we reluctantly raised our hands she said "welcome and don't worry about knowing all the moves just have fun". Her love for her gift to inspire others was felt so strong. Little did she know how much her words encouraged me to push through my pain and learn the steps because I wanted to take back what the enemy had stolen from me (my ability to walk). After a few classes we had the opportunity to talk with her and I shared with her my testimony and from that day forward a friendship developed and she encouraged me to continue my journey and live. Tuesday night step class wasn't just exercise for us it was a spiritual encounter with a sista in the Lord that shared her God given gift to edify and uplift others. She was a blessing to so many and will be missed more then words can say.
May God's peace that passeth all understanding help you get through this.

I met Melissa through her kickboxing and step classes, but she was also my friend. She was a blessing to everyone she came in contact with and she will be missed by many. I feel very fortunate to have known her and will always remember her beautiful spirit.

Melissa was such a gift! I got to know her through fitness; kickboxing and step class. And later, she along with three other ladies...we all became close friends. Words cannot describe the ache in my heart knowing that she is no longer with us. It is just hard to believe. But she left a great legacy in the lives of the people she met, through her sons and in her books & plays.

Melissa was truly one of a kind, not only was she a great coworker but a true friend. I will miss her deeply, when I found out that a close family member was terminally ill and I was trying to get through work she graciously asked if she could say a prayer for me and my family. I will miss our daily conversations about our families and miss the joy and pride in her voice when she gushed about her sons how talented they are with sports but how important it was for them to have an education and how well they are doing in college. I could go on, Melissa lives on in all of us and to the lives she has touched so deeply. Prayers to her family and friends.

As I sit here looking at a blank box wondering what to say, my heart aches to know such a lovely spiritual encouraging friend is no longer with us. I will miss her encouraging words every time I communicated with her. I will miss her smile and laughter every time I saw her. I smile to myself as I hear her voice in my head saying, Kris how are "you" doing? She always cared how a person felt to make sure they were okay. It has been awhile since I last communicated with her, but I will miss my friend!
