Marjorie Roman

Obituary of Marjorie Roman

Marjorie Jacobs Roman was born on June 14, 1942 in Wade, North Carolina to the

late James R. Jacobs, Sr. and Fannie Ray Jacobs. Her heavenly Father called her to

eternal rest on Mother’s Day, May 14, 2017. She was preceded in death by her

loving husband, Lewis M. Roman, Jr., and her siblings, Theodosia Jacobs Ross,

Ivory Jacobs Cozart, James R. Jacobs, Jr., and Georgia Jacobs Bishop.

She was raised in Wade, North Carolina and educated in Hanover, North Carolina,

graduating from Armstrong High School. Marjorie was a majorette and often

displayed her baton twirling skills to her children.

Marjorie met, fell in love with, and married Lewis M. Roman, Jr. in Chester,

Pennsylvania. God blessed their union with three children, Sharon Yvette (Craig)

Conyers of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Beverly Denise Roman of New Carrollton,

Maryland, and Lewis M. (Lalicia) Roman, III of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Marjorie was employed by Teledyne Wirz in Chester, Pennsylvania for 28 years.

She made and enjoyed many lasting friendships during her time of employment.

Marjorie answered the call to follow Christ at an early age while attending Wesley

Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Wade, North Carolina. Marjorie moved to New

Castle, Delaware in 1973 and eventually joined Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist

Church in Belvedere, Delaware. She served faithfully at Rock of Ages as a

deaconess, usher, Bible Study teacher and Sunday School member until the

passing of her husband. Marjorie then relocated to Murfreesboro, Tennessee

where she continued to faithfully worship at Christ The King Bible Fellowship.

Marjorie loved her husband, her children, her grandchildren and her entire family.

She was a wonderful Grandma, always loving, full of life, and filled with wisdom

and encouragement. She was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan and looked forward

to each football season. Marjorie loved Sonic slushies, ice cream, and a wide

range of desserts. She also enjoyed listening to and singing along with Marvin

Gaye.

She will be especially missed by her seven grandchildren, Marjorie and James

Adebayo, Rachel and Jonathan Conyers, Aman and Imani Milliones-Roman, and

Lela Roman; her sister and brother-in- law, Berlene and Alex Lewis; her brothers-

in-law, Franklin (Cathy) Roman and Robert Ross; and sisters-in- law, Irma Jacobs,

Katrina Simpson, Joan Jennings, and Roberta Stokes. Additional survivors include

a special beloved niece, Karen L. Ross, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and

friends.
