God promises that there will be a time when we will never lose our loved ones in death ever again. at Rev. 21:3,4 God promises us that he will wipe every tear from our eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning or outcry or pain be anymore for the former things will have passed away.

I'm truly gonna miss my buddy @ the VA. He and I connected over a vanilla cupcake air freshner, in my office years ago, he loved that smell and from that day forward he called me "cookie?" I could be walking down the hall and he would say "heeyy cookie!" and I would know who it was. He was such a sweetheart. He loved his family and would always talk about them when he would see me. Keeping the family in prayer at this time.
