Obituary of Deaconess Alease M. Washington

Deaconess Alease M. Washington (nèe Newsome), 76, of Chester, PA, transitioned to glory on September 29, 2016. Alease was born in Boothwyn, Pa to Pauline and Webster Newsome, Sr. She attended Chichester School District through high school graduation when she moved to Chester, PA with her husband of 59 years, Walter Washington, Sr. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Chester Hospital before her career as a Teacher’s Assistant with the Chester- Upland School district. Deaconess Alease Washington served at Mount Olive Baptist Church of Linwood, PA and was a long standing member of the National Baptist Deacon’s Association. Alease was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars, Leah Chapter 27, a Linwoodette as well. Alease is preceded in death by her father, Webster Newsome, Sr., her mother Pauline Newsome, and her brother, Webster Newsome, Jr. Alease is survived by her husband, Walter T. Washington, Sr., 4 children, 3 siblings, 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends to cherish her memory.
