Obituary of Lenox L. Jackson

Lenox Jackson, Sr, 89, Wilmington, was born March 17, 1927 in Wilmington, Delaware, and he passed away on May 24, 2016 at the age of 89. Lenox was the son of the late Levin and Caroline Coker Jackson; husband of the late Alma Wongus Jackson; father of the late Lenox Lacey Jackson Jr.; grandfather of Tracy Simpson; great-grandfather of Demmi Simpson; godfather of Robinetta Wideman Horne; brother of the Late Beatrice, Francis and Wagner Jackson; uncle of Lynn, Wagner, Jeffre and Janine Jackson. Lenox leaves 2 sisters-in-law. Lenox graduated from Howard High School and Lincoln University. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, serving in WWII. Lenox retired after working over 40 years with the U.S. Post Office. His friends there often called him Stonewall Jackson. Lenox was a member of the Monday Club, Inc., and he was inducted into the Delaware Afro-American Sports Hall of Fame in April 2001. Lacy loved Photography and listening to Jazz. He was a well-known figure in the Wilmington Community and will be sorely missed.
