Obituary of Dennis Franklin Thomas, Jr.

On this day we have all come together to show our love and appreciation for someone whom exudes the true meaning of the word L.O.V.E. Dennis F. Thomas, Jr., born August 5, 1961 in Wilmington, DE to Annie M. Thomas and Dennis F. Thomas, Dr. He departed his life March 28, 2016, after a short illness. He was educated in the Public Schools in Wilmington, DE and New York City. He completed his Barber training at the Riverside Barber Training Program in Harlem, NY under the instruction of his father Dennis F. Thomas, Sr. Jay had a superior work ethic, working long hours, long days, and didn’t like missing any days, even when sick. He was a diehard Philadelphia Eagles and 76ers fan as well as a lover of all animals. He had a loving hart, and unselfish nature, and always lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Jay personified the true meaning of love. Jr. shared a special relationship with all his nieces and nephews. He was the true illustration of “The Perfect Uncle”. Jay had a distinctive knock that was a clear indication that Uncle Jay was at the door. “OMG,” the kids loved themselves some Uncle/Cousin Jay. He was more than just an uncle to them. He enjoyed taking groups of children on outdoor activities looking for small animals to make pets out of them. He loved ALL children. He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter: Dawn Robinson and five grandsons: Yasir, Amir, Zion Za’chi & Zamir; two adopted sons Franklin and Lamar Wright. Mother: Annie M. Thomas; Father, Dennis F Thomas, Sr. (Rozanne); Two Brothers, Kevin A. Thomas (Denise) and Brian c. Williams; Five Sisters, Sherell L. Thomas (Orlando), Kelene F. Thomas, Cornelia K. Cuff (Laurence), Dawn Townsend (George), and Rhonda L. Bailey (Brian); God-mother Louise Fortt, God-sister Alafair Carter and special life-long friend Melvin Finney and a host of nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.
