My condolences to the family. I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Whitaker when her last name was Lawson. She was my middle school teacher. I will always cherish this woman here because she saved my life. As a a kid i wanted to give up, I wanted to quit. Ms. Lawson wasn't having it! She took interest in a lost soul (mine), and she would not let me quit. She would not let me give up on myself. She showed me the beauty in life and all it had to offer for a poor inner-city kid like me. Because of Ms. Lawson I went on to high school and graduate. Her words still to this day echo in my thoughts. The encouage me to keep pushing through. Today, I am a teacher just like Mrs. Lawson-Whitaker. Over the years I've used the same approach she used on me. To the family I will pray for you and I thank you for lending Mrs. Whitaker to us. She will be surely missed.

My sincerest condolences go out to Terrry and Shannon. Bev was a true friend to me. She took me under her wing when I first started teaching at Kirk Middle School. She was my counselor, confidant and friend. She helped me mature and make positive choices in my life. After her retirement, we still stayed in touch. I'd pick up the phone just to check in with her, and she'd always have something positive and/or funny to say. Bev was so wise and she cared for others. I will truly miss her. I hope and pray that you will find the strength that Bev would want you to have in order to deal with this loss. She'd want you to live life. Rest assured that you will someday see her again in Heaven. She will be waiting for you with open arms.

We have known Beverly for more than 50 years. Whenever we called her or she called us, we always laughed and reminisced about our alma maters, Cavalier Manor, SH Clark, Norcom High School and ECSU.. Beverly was a part of our family and she always smiled about everything. We will never forget the love she displayed or that burning desire to live a life pleasing to God physically and spiritually. To Terry, Son, and the Entire Family of my Dear Friend Beverly,
I extend my deepest and sincere condolences to "All of You"....
This was such a shock to me, when I heard of Beverly's passing. I met Beverly many years ago at "Bethel Church" through our many "activities" and during our talks, "we" found out that we had a "mutual" friend (Doris Jones) and this made our friendship stronger. I will miss Beverly's beautiful smile and sisterly hugs, whenever we saw each other....
Beverly is now smiling in the arms of our "Heavenly Father"... no more pain, just "joy and happiness"....
