Obituary of Kenneth Bernard Hawkins

The world became blessed with Kenneth Bernard Hawkins, Jr. (Kenny), on August 24, 1983. It was to the tremendous joy of his parents Kenneth B. Hawkins, Sr. and Melanie A. Hawkins (Hopkins). Kenny was a thoughtful and loving son. He had a remarkably close bond with his sisters Tija and Kelli. He was a special blessing to all of his family members and, importantly to him, an irreplaceable friends to many who looked to him for guidance and mentorship. God must have needed some of his special-ness too, because we lost his physical presence here on earth suddenly on May 20, 2011. "Street", as his crew knew him, obtained his education at New Castle Baptist Academy and William Penn High School in New Castle, where he graduated in 2001. He then went to work at Target Stores in Wilmington, Delaware as a stock person, where he gave them as much time and hard work as he possibly could. He then began his unofficial "street ministry" which lasted the rest of his life. Through it, he used his passion for words and music, deep understanding of life, and never-complaining acceptance of his own personal struggles, to help anyone he came in contact with who he knew needed his unique friendship. Kenny enjoyed attending Consolation Fellowship Church where he gained an appreciation for God's love and lifelong friendships. He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life: his father, Kenneth B. Hawkins, Sr., his mother, Melanie A. Hawkins; two sisters, Kelli Hawkins and Tija Hopkins-Layne; maternal grandparents, Jean Booker of Newark, Delaware, and Warren Hopkins of Florida; a large number of very special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends including his proud and loved creation, the M DOT crew. He was preceded to God's side by his paternal grandparents, Louis E. Hawkins, Sr. and Armetta A. Hawkins. Read Kenneth Hawkins, Jr.'s Obituary and Guestbook on houseofwrightmortuary.com.
