Obituary of Elizabeth Ann McClain-Bell

Elizabeth Ann McClain Bell, age 62 passed away on Friday, November 30, 2012, at home. Born December 30, 1948, in West Chester, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Allen S. McClain, Jr. and the late Pearl Jones McClain. Elizabeth is survived by her daughter Stacy Ann Simpson-Caicedo of Palm Coast, Florida and her son, Thomas Bradford Bell of Wilmington, Delaware. Her sisters and brothers, Lorraine McClain Cann of Wilmington, DE, Sterling McClain of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Stephen McClain of Oxford, Ruth McClain of Wilmington, DE, Marcella McClain Mayo of Coatesville, PA, Susan McClain Davis of Newark, DE, Sherry McClain Jackson of Newark, DE, Kathleen McClain of Avondale, PA,. seven grandchildren, Nineteen nieces and nephews, and twenty-five great nieces and nephews. Elizabeth graduated from Oxford Area High School and furthered her education by taking classes at Goldey Beacom College. During her working career she worked at IBM, ICI Americas, Boscov's, and Target and most recently at Applied Card Services. Elizabeth loved to read, bake and needlepoint. She was very outgoing and would happily lend a hand to family and friends and share a kind word and a smile with a stranger. Throughout her life she was a very active volunteer and donated her time as a Cadet Leader for the Girl Scouts, she was a faithful volunteer for The Sunday Breakfast Mission, a mentor at the Ferris School for Boys, and handing out blankets to the homeless. She could also be found dishing up food at the local food kitchen every Thanksgiving and working at the voting polls during every presidential election.
