On the eve of what would have been your 71st birthday, I praise God for the time that I had you in my life. You were an awesome father, grandfather, and husband and friend to many. You were a selfless man of God and took pride in taking care of your family. You humbly accepted your illness and fought the good fight until the end. Well done, thy good and faithful servant. Accept your gift of eternal life as your deserving reward. I miss you deeply , as does your devoted granddaughter Tene, who was also your best friend. Your grandson, James Eugene Townsend, II, will live on as your namesake and hear of your proud legacy. I am sorry that you never got a chance to meet him, but know you were smiling down on him as he took his first breath outside my womb. Thank you can never be enough to express my gratitude for all that you did for me... for us.. I love you with my soul.. I will never say goodbye.. I will only say what you said to me many times.. "See you later"
