Even though I haven't seen Uncle Bernard in a while, I still loved him very much. During my childhood, Uncle Bernard was always around, especially at Nannie's and Grandpop's house. He played with us as kids and you could just tell, even as a child, that he had a lot of love in his heart. I will always have fond memories of the whipping he gave me, probably at age 4. I didn't understand for many years why he whipped me but later learned that it was something that I recited that I'd heard the other kids say. Back then, any adult could and did whip you if you did something wrong. I can thank Uncle Bernard for that whipping because it probably contributed to the woman I am today.
