Obituary of Laverne Moxley Betz
Mrs. Laverne Moxley Betz, 63 of Wilmington passed away on Friday, June 19, 2009 after a long battle with cancer. Born on December 9, 1945, Lavern was a lifelong reident of Wilmington. She was a 1963 graduate of H. Fletcher Brown Technical High School where she studied nursing. She also received her associate drgree from Delaware Technical and Community College in Stanton in 1990. As a devoted nurse, Lavern worked in the Intensive Care Unit of St. Francis Hospital from 1974 until her illness in late 2007. Lavern was a very private person but loved her family and friends dearly. She was a longtime member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles A. Moxley, Sr. and Mildred (nee Lewis) Moxley, 4 brothers, Charles, Jr, Gilbert, Henry and Robert Moxley. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Michele Joan Brewer (Ronald) of Waldorf, MD; 3 sons, Michael W. Betz, Shannon Carl H. Betz and Charles D. Betz, Jr. all of Wilmington; 3 sisters, Joan and Virginia Moxley of Las Vegas and Bettyann Moxley of Wilmington; 1 brother, Raymond Moxley of Wilmington; 1 sister-in-law, Joan (nee Lewis) Moxley of Elkton, MD; and a very devoted niece, Vanessa Diane Lancaster of New Castle, DE; 4 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
