Harriet M. Brinkley on May 8, 2009 surrounded by her family, departed this life at the age of 89. Born and raised in Middletown, DE. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Harriet Ashe, her husband, Edgar Brinkley, Sr.; son, Terrance and daughter, Allison. Harriet attended the public schools in Middletown, receiving her graduation diploma. She was a Life Time member of Ringgold Chapel AME Church, where she served on several boards. She is survived by 2 daughters, Dorothea Grinnage (Reginald) and Bertha Smith; 6 sons, Rev. Joseph M. Ashe, Elwood Ashe, Edgar T. Brinkley, Jr., Dana A. Brinkley, Sr. (Ida), Kenneth B. Brinkley (Diana), and Gary E. Brinkley; 1 sister, Emily Ashe; 1 brother-in-law, Lawrence Jackson; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.
